The European Microwave Association is an international non-profit association with a scientific, educational and technical purpose. Our CEO joined EuMA to complement his existing electrical engineering community memberships within IEEE.
Our first power supply customer project for year 2012 starts. We won this project on the merit of our broad prior electronics design experience. At the moment we cannot elaborate on this, but after successful completion we will publish selected results in year 2013.
A three page journal article about LNAFIN has been published in January 2012. This our first ever appearance in the Press. The article presents us, our background and our Products and Services (PCB, PCB design, and ASIC). Please see us at Teollisuuden Näytelehti issue 1-2/ 2012 (in Finnish).
LNAFIN WWW-site pages now have more information about our circuit oriented products like: printed circuit boards (PCB, a.k.a. a printed wiring board), PCB layout design service, electronics design, also including the design service for application specific integrated circuits (ASIC).
Moving in its own premises gives LNAFIN a decent workshop and plenty of office space in Helsinki. This increases the possibilities to serve customers with both electronics prototype and design services.
Doct.Tech.(EE) Tiiliharju was granted his first US patent in July 2011. The title of the patent is: “Feedback network for cascaded amplifiers”, and details a novel way to build a feedback Low-Noise-Amplifier. This is an LNAFIN milestone. The patent can be viewed as a pdf file here.
LNAFIN was accepted as a member of Aalto University StartUp Center. The center has offices in the Ruoholahti district, Helsinki. Aalto University is the biggest technically oriented higher education body in Finland, and one of the largest in the Northern Europe. The attached picture shows a nice view from the StartUp Center grounds.
LNAFIN was founded in June 2011. From early on its mission was defined as the commercialization of 20 years of circuit design research. The LNAFIN logo shown here is a symbol of how cool integrated electronics can be!
The name LNAFIN actually reflects company history in two ways:
- LNA stems from English words Low-Noise Amplifier, which is direct history to company background and patents.
- FIN respects the Finnish engineering tradition which can boast companies such as Nokia, Väisälä, KONE etc.
First patent was granted in 2010. LNAFIN CEO, Doct.Tech. (EE), Esa Tiiliharju received his first patent in November 2010. Patent title is “Feedback network for cascaded amplifiers”, and its details can be found here. At this time, the idea of setting up LNAFIN began to mature through discussions with Peter Virta and collegues.
